    Thanks guys. I lashed out and bought 2 Sufferfest videos and done 2 rides on my trainer with them so far. Phew!! 2 toughest / best workouts I’ve had outside of short course mountain bike races.

  2. I got a “shout out”! Woo hoo!

    Great show guys. I never knew there was such a place as Sufferlandria. However, I can empathize with everyone who has to take to riding a trainer in the basement during the winter months. I live in south-central PA and we did have our share of crummy weather days this winter.

    That said, I think you guys were spot on when talking about breaking a training spin it into manageable pieces and to change things up frequently. Normally, if I want to just get some miles in, I will load up a few podcasts I haven’t listened to yet and just go at a constant tempo. But, if I want to practice high cadence spins or simulated sprints, I’ll dial up some Metallica, Rage Against the Machine, Powerman 5000 and Motley Crue and do 45 – 60 second of high speed (27 – 30 mph) and then back to 15 – 17 mph for the same amount of time. I usually will keep the same cassette gear and go from small to big chain ring to keep it simple. Do these in 2 sets of 10 with a 5 minutes of warm-up, in between sets, and cool down and you’ve pretty much done an hour of work and not even realized it.

    • Michael, Thanks for listening. Glad you liked storing your bike because as you may have noticed I thought is was a bit of a sleeper. I like your suggestions. As you said if you look back through the archives I am sure you will find some shows that cover your suggestions.


  4. Of course! Bad timing is my “gift.” I literally bought “The Blender” last night as my reward to myself for passing a major certification exam. The coupon would have been great. *drat* Love the video looking forward to hammering out intervals when I can’t ride outdoors. Thanks for the great podcast!
